As strange as it may be, my sister and I share a best friend. They’ve been friends since the ripe old age of three, and I have since adopted her BFF into my close circle. One of my favorite things about living alone is that I don’t have to coordinate around roommates when my sister and best friend come to visit from out of town. This is important for a number of reasons:
- We are LOUD when we are in the same location and haven’t seen each other in a few months.
- We stay up long past the time when considerate people should go to bed. Case in point: we once decided to laugh and talk all night long and didn’t fall asleep until 7 a.m.
- Horror movies are our favorite movies…mostly because my best friend has been known to scream starting with the movie trailers, and we find it absolutely hysterical.
- Their bags tend to explode. Within seconds of landing in my apartment the zippers of their suitcases unleash a unique level of chaos rarely seen in my apartment when I’m by myself. Their stuff is EVERYWHERE. It moves from room to room with reckless abandon until I can no longer see my floor.
Needless to say, my last week has been a flurry of preparations and homework in order to prepare for their arrival. As an INFJ I may enjoy my alone time, but these are MY PEOPLE and I am so excited. I can be myself with them — they know me. I don’t have to pretend, and that is just so damn comforting.
